General Board Member

Deadline:  Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 23:59

"If you have any questions regarding the board or the position , do not hesitate and contact us via email!"

What do you do?

As a General Board Member, you'll strengthen our team and support our committees. With three different committees, we offer a range of opportunities for you to contribute and discover where your interests lie.

This role places you in an indispensable position, where you can showcase your versatility by smoothly transitioning between different board members and committees. You're solution-oriented and ensure that tasks are actively tackled, sometimes independently and sometimes in collaboration with others. You share advice and ideas to improve processes and are an essential link for the visibility and advocacy of Muslim students, both within and outside the university.

What is in it for you?

After a board year at SV MUSA, you are guaranteed to have grown personally and professionally. It allows you to develop essential skills such as leadership, teamwork, task management, even if you don't have them. You will also be challenged to take responsibility and initiative. The beauty of being on the board is that you can challenge yourself as much as you want.

Serving on a board offers you hands-on experience that can enrich your CV and make you stand out in future job applications, regardless of the (study) direction you (eventually) choose.

As a board member, you will have tremendous opportunities to build and/or expand your network. You have the opportunity to work together with other (Islamic) student associations, companies (including recruiters) and other organizations.

Not unimportantly, you are applying for a position with an Islamic student association. You end up in an environment where you are consciously and unconsciously encouraged to become a better Muslim and to build and deepen your religious knowledge.

In addition, you help Muslim students at the UvA to better express their religious identity e.g. through a decent prayer room. You build and maintain a community where (new) Muslims feel at home, can eat, drink and laugh together

What do we ask?

  • You are a full-time student at a university (of applied sciences) in Amsterdam;

  • You are motivated, creative and eager to learn;

  • You have a good command of the English language in speaking and writing;

  • The ability to quickly switch between tasks;

  • Creative ideas, but also the ability to give others space to share their ideas;

  • The ability to motivate others and be a team player, while also being able to work independently;

  • Experience within a board or student council is a plus, but not required;

  • You are able to devote ±8 hours per week to SV MUSA.
